Common Car A/C Problems

• Refrigerant Leak

  Without refrigerant, the air conditioner would not be able to create cold air. Refrigerant picks up excess heat from your vehicle when it’s in a gaseous state and sheds that heat when it turns into a liquid. As the shed heat is whisked away, cold air is created. You can see that having a low refrigerant level would be a problem; unfortunately, it can leak out over time. Your system may need just an A/C refrigerant recharge, but it’s also possible that it will need to have a leak plugged.

• A/C Compressor Trouble

  The compressor is what turns the refrigerant from a liquid into a gas; it also pushes the refrigerant through the A/C system to collect heat. Whether the compressor has been physically damaged or just worn out with time, we can replace it with a genuine Honda compressor at Rapids Honda.

• A/C Condenser Problems

  The condenser does the opposite of the compressor: it turns gaseous refrigerant into a liquid, allowing it to shed heat. The condenser may have become clogged; in cases like these, it will not require a replacement. However, a broken or worn condenser will need to be replaced.

• Blower Motor Problems

  The blower motor is the component that blows the cool air from the A/C system into your cabin. If the blower motor has suffered physical damage, it will need to be replaced. However, there may instead be an electrical issue.

• Clogged Cabin Air Filter

  The cabin air filter in your vehicle’s A/C system is what prevents contaminants from entering your cabin. As time passes, it will become clogged and will need to be replaced. We will use an OEM Honda cabin air filter when you have this service performed here.
